Over 1.6 mln tourists visit the Romanian seaside this summer
Tour operators’ first estimations show that more than 1.6 million tourists have visited the Romanian seaside so far this summer, 8% more compared to last year’s season. Mamaia, Romania’s most expensive seaside resort, remained the top destination, with over 800,000 tourists, reports local Digi24.
Hotel and beach managers said they managed to recover the losses registered in June when the weather was cold and the number of tourists was low.
Accommodation tariffs will drop by up to 30% at the Romanian seaside starting September 1, marking the start of the “Seaside for all” (Litoralul pentru toti) social programme.
At least 30,000 tourists are expected in Mamaia during this programme when a six-night stay will cost between RON 205 (EUR 46) and RON 605 (EUR 136). Holidays will be even cheaper in resorts located in the south part of the Romanian coast, the tariffs varying between RON 159 (EUR 35) and RON 469 (EUR 105).
