Over 130 movies in the race for Romania’s 2016 Gopo Awards
More than 130 movies are competing for the Gopo 2016 nominations, including 84 Romanian films launched in cinemas or festivals last year. Other 50 European productions have entered the race for the Best European Film nominations.
The Romanian Film Promotion Association will organize the tenth edition of the Gopo Awards gala on March 28. The event honors the values of the Romanian cinema.
Some of the Romanian movies competing for nominations in the fiction feature category are Radu Jude’s Aferim!, Tudor Giurgiu’s De Ce Eu? (Why me?), and Corneliu Porumboiu’s Comoara (The Treasure).
The documentary section’s list includes films such as Reteaua (The Network) directed by Claudiu Mitcu, YouTube Bazaar directed by Dan Chisu, and Muntele Magic (The Magic Mountain) by Anca Damian.
Moreover, Ramona by Andrei Cretulescu, Black Friday by Roxana Stroe, Verigheta (The Wedding Ring) by Daniel Achim, and Omulan! by Matei Branea are also competing for nominations in the Best Short Film category.
All the nominations will be announced at the end of the month.
