Over 200 models of traditional Romanian blouses 'Ie' on display at fair in Bucharest this weekend
The Romanian Ie Fair, an event that aims to bring the traditional Romanian blouse, the Ie, into spotlight, will be held this weekend (June 22 and June 23) at Alchemia -the center for contemporary arts in Bucharest. The fair will stay open between 10:00 and 20:00 and is part of a series of events marking the Day of the Romanian Ie, celebrated around the world on June 24.
Over 200 models will be displayed at the fair, both new and vintage. All the blouses are handmade using natural materials and following traditional methods.
The event will end with Sanziene Party, also organized at Alchemia on June 23, from 22:00.
Sanzienele represent a Romanian tradition that is celebrated on June 24, when love and fertility are celebrated, followed by a magical night. The tradition says “Sanzienele” are beautiful fairies that live in forests or plains, where they dance and give magical powers to the plants.
