Over 250 foreign teams sign up for largest electronic sports tournament in Romania
A total of 253 teams from around the world have signed up for the largest electronic sports tournament in Romania. They occupied all available places in just 12 hours. The event, called PGL CS:GO Championship Series offers total prizes of USD 110,000. The championship will take place between February 28 and March 8.
Four of the 253 teams will come to Bucharest for the semifinals. For the rest, the competition will take place online.
The teams will have the opportunity to fight for one of the two seats allocated to qualifications in CS:GO Championship Series groups. In the groups, the two winners will face six of the best teams in the world, directly invited by PGL, the league’s organizer.
For three weeks, CS:GO Championship Series will bring together in one championship the world’s eight best teams. Only four will fight for the champion title at Sala Polivalenta in Bucharest, during the DreamHack Bucharest 2015 event in April.
The league’s structure is made of two groups of eight teams each. The best team from each group will directly qualify in the final organized during DreamHack Bucharest, while the rest will meet in the Last Chance tournament to complete the list of four finalists.
The prize for the group phase amounts to USD 17,000, while the one for the last chance tournament is of USD 8,000. The final’s prize amounts to USD 75,000.
