Over 30,000 Romanian public clerks go on strike
Over 30,000 employees in the public administration will go on strike on April 30 because the Government has not yet applied the unified wage law, said Petru Dandea, vice-president of the National Trade Union Confederation Cartel Alfa.
Over 20 salary groups are on the threshold of average wages, or right below the threshold, said Dandea, cited by local Agerpres. About a quarter of the public administration staff earns the minimum wage, below RON 1,000 (EUR 226).
“Delaying this law is completely absurd from our point of view,” said Dandea.
On April 30, the public administration will not issue documents, nor collect payments.
