Over 61,000 people got Romanian citizenship in 2014
The Romanian state granted over 61,000 citizenship certificates in 2014, most of them being issued under the laws regulating regaining Romanian citizenship for those who have lost it, according to the National Citizenship Authority ANC.
“ANC issued a total of 5,089 citizenship certificates in 2014, out of which 4,716 were issued under the article 11 of the republished 21/1991 law,” according to an ANC statement, cited by local Mediafax.
Romanian diplomatic missions abroad issued 56,690 certificates under articles 10 and 11 of the same law.
Those who file citizenship requests under article 11 mostly come from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Israel, Russia, Bulgaria and Turkey.
In 2011, 2012 and 2013, the Romanian State granted citizenship to over 200,000 people.
