Over 90 companies active in Romania's grain sector cause EUR 21 mln damage
The anti-fraud department within Romania’s Tax Agency ANAF has found a network of over 90 companies active in the grain sector, which caused a damage of EUR 21.4 million to the state budget.
The companies operated as intermediaries among grain producers, traders in the Constanta port, and grain processors in the local market.
In November last year, the anti-fraud inspectors notified the prosecutors from the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). They carried out 39 controls at companies headquartered in Bucharest, as well as in the Galati, Braila, and Vrancea counties.
