Romanian software development company offers permanent remote work option
OVES Enterprise, a Romanian software developer established in 2015 in Cluj-Napoca, has offered employees the option of permanent remote work.
The staff won’t have to return to the office and will be able to work from anywhere in the world, the company said.
The company currently has 107 collaborators, 30 of them hired over the last three months. The team members can choose how they want to work: from the office, hybrid or full remote lifetime. They can change the preferred mode anytime.
OVES Enterprise, which plans to expand its team to more than 200 by the end of the year, has employees working in Romania, Austria, Germany, France, the US, UK, Ukraine, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.
“We have been looking at the HR trends covering this topic and had an open talk with the programmers, whose wish to not return to the office is backed up by the good results we noticed during the pandemic. Over the last two years, we realized that, as long as projects are delivered on time, it matters less where we work from. We are more focused on what we deliver than where we deliver it from,” Mihai Filip, CEO of OVES Enterprise, said.
At present, most of the company’s collaborators work remotely. Around 5% come to the office, and they are usually part of the company’s management. Some 10% work in a hybrid mode, and the rest fully remote.
“Lately, five Romanian employees relocated to Spain, two to southern France and two to the United States,” the CEO explained. “People can come to the office anytime if they want to socialize, but most of our developers are seniors, are around 35-4 years old, have families, and prefer to spend their time off with their families or close friends.”
The option of remote work was accompanied by new cybersecurity measures, the company said.
Starting 2019, OVES’s strategy covered providing more complex software development services for projects in the automotive, eCommerce, fintech, and telecom industries and international governmental institutions. At present, 80% of the company’s turnover comes from projects outside of Romania. The company currently employs 107 people and has offices in Romania, Germany and UAE.
