(P) A four-star experience in the wild Danube Delta at the Green Village Resort

12 June 2015

Located in Sfantu Gheorghe, the place where the Danube meets the Black Sea, the 4* Green Village Resort can mean both a holiday by the Black Sea shore and a getaway in the heart of the fascinating Danube Delta - one of the wildest and beautiful places in Europe, that combines relaxation and comfort with adventure and wildlife.

The Danube Delta is a unique place in Europe, definitely worth paying a visit while in Romania. Located in Eastern Romania, the Delta is the last host of Danube’s long journey across Europe. Before merging with the Black Sea, the Danube splits into the Chilia(North), Sulina(center) and Sfantu Gheorghe(South) branches, forming the largest and youngest ecosystem of Europe's deltas, spread across some 3,400 km2. A well preserved habitat for rare flora and fauna, the Danube Delta hosts over 300 species of birds as well as 45 freshwater fish species and became in 1991 a UNESCO biosphere reservation.

Another attraction while in the Danube Delta is the authentic local experience. Called ”lipoveni”, the locals live in fishermen villages, ”sate pescaresti” and are known for their hospitality and amazing fishing stories. Sfantu Gheorghe is a quiet village, with friendly people, away from the noisy cities. You can get there easily by ship, boat or possibly by helicopter.

Once there, the possibilities of spending time are endless, especially when the host has lined up a four-star experience for you:

Freshly renovated, the Green Village Resort offers 4* Villas Accommodation – Egreta, Starcul Alb, Lebada, Pelicanul – with a total  of 89 rooms: 30 apartments with one double room and a living room, 1 apartment with 2 double rooms and a living room, 50 double rooms and 8 studios – some 30,000 sqm in total. Rooms range from 25 to 40 sqm each. The apartments are structured on two floors, with a 15 sqm terrace and a 20 sqm living room at the ground floor, furnished with 2 non extensible rattan armchairs; the 30- sqm bedroom is situated at the first floor. The decorations are inspired by unobtrusive luxury and only stand out due to the attention given to details. All rooms are equipped with a minibar and air-conditioning and the bathrooms offer generous space. The terraces offer a view to either the Danube or the Black Sea and the villas are surrounded by a big number of lakes which host lilies and other water plants, as well as wild ducks.
