(P) Be part of our future!

17 November 2015

Who would have expected such a growth? Certainly not the parents that took the initiative to home school their children, simply due to the fact that there were no other options at that time. Back in September of 2007 there were no schools in Bucharest, or in Romania for that matter that fully followed the German curriculum. Starting with two children being taught in a living room, the German School Bucharest –DSBU– (germ: Deutsche Schule Bucharest) today has grown to incorporate a nursery, a kindergarten and a school, consisting of a primary school and a high school. The many years of effort focused on some clear principles:

  • Encountering different cultures and diversity in everyday life in order to develop a tolerant character are the basic principles of our school community.
  • School life that promotes the active exchange between the German and Romanian culture.
  • Students being able to take advantage of studying in small groups in which the teachers address each student’s individual needs.
  • Continuous training that ensures and permanently develops the professional quality of the pedagogical team.
  • Creating a climate which promotes the development of our students into responsible, independent adults who will be able to successfully face the life of a globalized world.

And today we are in the great situation to have so many children that we are compelled to build new premises.

DSBU - German School of Bucharest 03

Letter from Leon, 13 years old, DSBU student

I am Leon, and I am a 7th grade pupil at the German School of Bucharest (DSBU). Our school has grown a lot, we now have 150 students studying. We are planning to build new premises, in order to have more space for nursery, kindergarten, primary and secondary school.

There will be many green and sports areas, where we will be able to play and practice our favourite sports. Most of our teachers are from Germany, so all of pupils speak German very well.

We already found our first big supporter, who is intending to provide the land.

You too have the possibility to support us! By becoming a partner in the construction of our new school, you will facilitate access for many pupils to the best possible education in Bucharest. If you are interested in sponsoring our new premises – or making a donation in-kind – just drop us a line at project@dsbu.ro, and we will get in touch and introduce you to our new school and present you the opportunities to support us. Come and visit us and get a closer look at the great things we already offer at our school! The pupils of DSBU send their best regards to you.
