The Antiqva Association and Medieval Praxis will organize between October 30th and November 21st the 9th edition of the Bucharest Early Music Festival.

Considered the most significant early music event from South-Eastern Europe, the Festival will offer this year a stately early music event. Romanian musicians and dancers as well as invited French and Spanish artists all of whom are specialized in the early music interpretation technique will revive on stage the Renaissance period and the musical Baroque.

Jean-Philippe Rameau, “the musician of France’s royal palaces”, will be present in two novel projects. The first is going to be the exceptional concert-show “Rameau - Le Musicien du Roi” presented on October the 30th, at the beginning of the Festival. You will witness an original concept that brings together Rameau’s music and the vintage choreographies of Louis Guillaume Pécour și Raoul Auger Feuillet. The Gli Studiosi di Sebastiano (Bucharest) and two dancers from the Passegio Medieval and Baroque Dance Ensemble (Cluj) will perform in this show hosted in Cotroceni Palace’s Unirii Hall starting at 19:00 hours.

The second concert, “Rameau - 250”, will be performed on November 13th by the harpsichord player Raluca Enea in the Anglican Church at 19:00 hours. The repertoire includes mainly selections from the “Pièces de Clavecin en Concerts” (1741) and from Rameau’s work “ Les Indes Galantes”.

The event will be followed by “Par mes Chants”, a solo voice, theorbo and Baroque guitar recital performed by the French Marco Horvat in Cotroceni Museum’s Cerchez Hall on November 19th at 19:00 hours.

The program of the Festival’s closing concert includes “Musicas Para la Camara de Isabel de Castilla” performed by the early music ensemble Cinco Siglos and the Spanish soprano Delia Agúndez on November 21st at 19:00 hours in the Bragadiru Palace.

Among the artists that participated in the Festival were important European early music names, such as Hopkinson Smith (lute, theorbo, USA/Switzerland), Marcel Ponseele (Baroque oboe, Belgium), Jan de Winne (flauto traverso, Belgium), Hervé Douchy (Baroque cello, Belgium), Ketil Hausand (harpsichord, Norway), together with Romanian early music artists such as Raluca Enea (harpsichord), Dorel Iuga (flauto traverso), Melinda Béres (Baroque violin), Soma Salat-Zakarias (viola da gamba), Csilla Juhazs, Tamas Tóth (Baroque dance), Harry Tavitian (jazz) etc.
