(P) How it was at the second edition of the Expat Fair
A relaxed, casual and informative day, this is how visitors described the most recent edition of the Expat Fair organized by City Compass Group. The event offered both business to consumer and business to business opportunities in a mixed format.
This second edition of the Expat Fair took place at Willbrook Platinum, on Saturday, April 16. The event brought together 61 partners and 450 participants representing more than 140 companies, including high-end guests from top multinational companies in Romania, diplomats and Ambassadors as well as startup owners. The quality audience present at the fair showed direct interest in the products and services promoted there.
After a first successful edition in October 2015, the Expat Fair - the meeting point for internationals living in Bucharest - brought under the same rooftop companies with special services and offers for expatriates and internationals living in Romania.
The second edition had twice as many exhibitors compared to the first edition, as well as two times more display space in a location closer to the expat community in the northern part of Bucharest.
At this second edition, Expat Fair visitors had the opportunity to get in touch directly with representatives of companies from different sectors: legal, moving & relocation, rent a car and international schools, wellness, hospitality, social and charity - check the full list of partners below.
Creatively designed stands awaited visitors with information, service offers or products, such as handmade items, books, souvenirs - and even cookies.
During the fair, the 7 workshops tailored for expatriates had full attendance and focused on topics of interest to the community, such as local art, freelancing tips & tricks, education, community involvement, society change, and expat life in Romania.
- “The evolution and revolution of art in Romania”, by Silvia Rogozea, Art Safari
- “The steps to registering and working as an expat freelancer in Romania - overcoming the bureaucratic hurdles”, by Andreea Tigau, Grecu & Asociatii
- "Culture & children's play - the importance of an international environment and how this affects play", by Susan Eriksson - King’s Oak - British International School
- “You better jump - From expat to being a part of the community", by Osnat Peled, BWFR
- “Romania then and now - 25 years of change”, by Anca Harasim, AmCham
- “How to become a hero as an expatriate - by making yourself replaceable”, by Thilo Beyer, ICUnet.AG
- “Living and working in Bucharest as a foreigner in 2016 - is it cool or overestimated?” - panel by City Compass Group
Apart from visiting the stands and attending workshops, there were some other things to enjoy: have fun while taking a picture with Smybox, a relaxing massage session at the SpaMasaj stand, or savouring the amazing food prepared by Chef Foa and his team.
Kids too had a blast at the two indoor and outdoor playgrounds created for them by AGS Movers and Divertiland. They also got to play with the guide training puppy brought by Light into Europe.
Elsewhere at the fair, the exquisite AUDI displayed by Porsche Pipera was a delightful eye catch presence for visitors and exhibitors alike.
Kicked off at 10AM by Volker Moser, partner and co-founder of the City Compass Group, the event ended at 4PM with a casual networking session sponsored by Transearch, Ursus, Flavours Food Design, Domeniile Samburesti and Aqua Carpatica. During the networking session, the fair partners and visitors enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, socialized, some started new business deals, while enjoying a glass of wine and the company.
