The most interesting Family Weekends in Romania (P)

22 May 2014

You probably already know that Romania is much more than ”the land of Dracula”. This country offers an array of medieval castles, authentic households, guest houses with a series of leisure activities for entertainment – horseback riding, hay wagon rides, spa programs – tourists’ routes, dreamy landscapes that compete with sightseeing in Tuscany or Provence.
Adina Acatrinei (General Manager of My Passport Travel & Events agency) introduced a new concept on the Romanian travel market: experimental travel, dedicated to all travelers interested in a unique combination of excitement, curiosity, and discovery. Being in love with Romania’s scenic landscapes, Adina recommends travel experiences, not simple visits. She chose 5 interesting and less known places, perfect for an unforgettable family weekend getaway and she invites you to (re)discover Romania!

Sibiu
Voted Europe's Cultural Capital in 2007, Sibiu has a lot to offer for its visitors. Hilton is our choice for families with children. Set in the medieval town of Sibiu, the Hilton Sibiu hotel offers a perfect combination of contemporary conveniences, a beautiful and culturally rich location. The indoor pool and the playground along with a special menu for the youngest member of the family are the perfect recipe for an enjoyable city break. And just across the street you’ll be surprised to discover the Zoo, one of the most beautiful in Romania and the Astra Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization that lies in stunning scenery in the Dumbrava Sibiului Nature Reserve. It is the ideal location to discover the traditional rural Romanian lifestyle while taking a relaxing walk in the middle of the nature.

Maggie’s Ranch
Whenever you feel like you need a break from the office and want to enjoy a week-end with the family, please consider Maggie’s Ranch one of the choices. This Bed & Breakfast, located near Brasov, in a beautiful area, surrounded by hills and mountains is rustic but elegant and still make you think that you just landed in the Wild West. Sign up for horse-riding lessons, trail rides, carriage or sleigh rides as you please. And after an exhausting day out in the nature, relax at the pool, outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna or near the fireplace, sipping a glass of quality wine. While you are there you can visit Rasnov Citadel that is one of the best preserved rustic citadels from Transylvania.

La Mesteceni Country Club

Riding camps are a perfect choice for an excellent mini vacation. Children have proven time and time again that they get close to animal really quickly and they are able to easily establish a good report with horses. In the “Mesteceni” riding camp, children are able to learn about the art of horseback riding, starting with safety rules and horse grooming. During camp, various educational trips are organized and children can join in different outdoor activities and workshops. The playground is the joy of every child who visits this place. Starting with the pool and the sandbox the most popular toys are here: swings, tree-houses, trampolines and slides.

Poiana Brasov / Brasov

Smack in the center of Romania is Brasov, a harmonious mash-up of traditional charm and
modern city life. The avid tourist can indulge in a multitude of activities in this area: hiking, biking, horseback riding, and rock-climbing. And what could be more excited than start the day at a bear sanctuary? Over 70 bears enjoy a new life in the Libearty Bear Sanctuary – 70 hectares of oak and hazel forest in the Carpathian Mountains above the Transylvanian town of Zarnesti.
Others recommendation for families in this area are: Adventure Park Brasov, an out-door sports activity center and Aquapark - a place with indoor and outdoor pools for the whole family.

Danube Delta

The Danube Delta is not only the second largest delta on the planet, but also the most preserved one on the European continent and it could definitely be an adventure for kids. Situated in Sfantu Gheorghe (the place where the Danube meets the Black Sea), the 4 Stars Green Village represents at the same time a 4 stars holiday at the seaside and an escapade in the heart of the Delta. Sfantu Gheorghe is an unconventional magical place, with flowers, sun, sand, vividly painted houses burst by the wind with hand-made wooden decorations and reed roofs.
