(P) The Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse celebrated in several hotels in Bucharest
The Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse, initiated and coordinated by the online community “La Blouse Roumanie”, will be celebrated this year for the second time. The events organised with this occasion started on the 20th of June, one day before the summer’s solstice also known in other countries as midsummer, and will end on the 24th of June, also known as “Sânziene” in the Romanian local folklore.
The Sânziene rituals have been known for ages on the present Romanian territory implying that beautiful maidens in the traditional white dresses pick Sanziene flowers (Lady’s bedstraw, Yellow bedstraw, Galium verum) all day long on the eve of this celebration and make floral crowns.
Several hotels situated in historical buildings in Bucharest together with Iiana, a local brand producing Romanian traditional clothing, have decided to join forces and promote this Romanian tradition and present it to their guests in a novel way.
The ladies working at the reception desk at Hotel Cismigiu, Le Boutique Hotel Moxa and Grand Hotel Continental will be welcoming their guests today wearing the traditional Romanian Blouse. The blouses are hand sewn with traditional patterns and symbols from different parts of the country.
The organisers hope that this initiative will promote the Romanian traditional values, history and culture and some of the hidden beauties of this country.
So if you want to admire the beautiful blouses make sure you pay them a visit today.
