Part of Romania’s beaches to be revamped with EUR 50 mln Govt. financing
The Romanian Government will finance, with some EUR 50 million, works to protect and revamp the southern part of Romania’s seaside, around the Mamaia resort. The money will come from external grants, the state budget and other sources, according to local news agency Mediafax.
The investment will be spread over a period of three years, according to a decision approved by the Government.
Financing contracts for projects, worth over EUR 600 million, were signed last year, within the Sectoral Operational Programme Environment, among them being a contract of around EUR 170 million to revamp 7 kilometers of beach, reports Mediafax.
The contract for financing the “Protection and rehabilitation of the southern part of Romania’s Black Sea coast, in Constanta and Eforie Nord” project was signed in late April.
The project proposes protection measures against the risk of erosion for over seven kilometers of beach, and the investment should be completed by late-2015.
