Hundreds of peacebuilding experts to meet in Romania for yearly congress
Bucharest will welcome 300 conflict solving professionals from 40 countries, including an intervention by Nobel Prize laureate Desmond Tutu via video this spring.
The Romanian capital will host for the first time the Mediators Beyond Borders’ 7th Annual Peace Congress end of April, bringing together regional and global professionals. They will share and debate mediation techniques which should help keep peace.
Archbishop Demond Tutu, a Nobel Prize laureate for Peace in 1984, will have a video intervention during the event scheduled for April 23 to 26. The event will also bring Shadia Marhaban, the only woman mediator who attended the Helsinki peace talks in 2005, and Prabha Sankaranarayan, president of the Mediators Beyond Borders’, as well Mary Montague, a road opener in international peace.
Taking part at the Marriott Hotel in Bucharest, the congress will focus on the role of women, youth and NGOs in peace mediation, the important traditions have in mediations, among others. Internationally relevant case studies will also be presented.
