Israeli president Shimon Peres, who started his official visit to Romania on Wednesday, August 11, said the Romanian president Traian Basescu is one of the most important and responsible leaders of the current period. This came after the Romanian president mentioned the country would support NATO and Israel should there be a conflict with Iran.

Israeli president Shimon Peres will start his first official visit to Romania today as part of his official tour in the region. Bulgaria was also included in his tour. Peres will meet Romanian president Traian Basescu and will take part in a commemorative ceremony for the six Israeli military who died in July after a helicopter crash in Bucegi mountains.

Efthimios Tsokanis is the new IT manager of telecom company Romtelecom. Tsokanis, who has taken over the new position since August 1st, has previously worked with Vivacom Bulgaria.

Vasile Cosmin Turcu has resigned from the position of general manager of Rompetrol Rafinare Constanţa (RRC). The position is covered by Arman Kairdenov, so far the deputy general manager of the company.

Mona-Lisa Caravaniez is the new managing director of Ogilvy&Mather Romania, after Gina Leu, the former MD, has chosen to take a sabbatical period.

He will manage Romania, the Republic of Moldova, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Poland. He will oversee the activity of BPP Professional Education and of BPP University College.

Linda Griffin is the new general manager of the Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest, the hotel has announced. She will start at the helm of the hotel on September 1st, following the departure of Friedrich W. Niemann. Niemann has been running the five-star hotel for the last five years.

Real estate developer Atrium European Real Estate has appointed Jorg Banzhaf as chief investment officer. Banzhaf will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of Atrium’s planned investment program as the Company continues to seek out opportunities for growth.

Laurentiu Tulvan is the new industrial director with dairy maker Danone Romania. The company has also appointed Irina Fadeeva as head of the distribution chain.
