The number of new permits for residential buildings in Romania reached 3,740 in April this year, up 11.5% over the same month in 2015, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

Over two thirds (67.9%) of the total number of permits were issued in rural areas.

The number of residential permits increased in six of Romania’s regions in April, and dropped only in the south of the country, in the Bucharest-Ilfov and South-Muntenia regions.

Compared to March 2016, the number of permits rose by 12%.

In the first four months of the year, the local authorities issued over 11,000 permits for residential buildings, up 4.6% year-on-year.
