Romania introduces week dedicated to physical activity
A "week of physical activity" will be organized every year after legislation mandating the Sports Ministry to organize it was promulgated by president Klaus Iohannis.
It will cover various activities, including ones targeted at children, youth and adults with disabilities. The events will be organized in both urban and rural areas.
The Sports Ministry can run volunteering contracts with athletes or former athletes and other sports personalities to promote the event, according to the legislation.
The estimated prevalence of sufficient physical activity levels stands at 30% for the country's adult population and 23% for children and adolescents, according to WHO's 2018 Physical Activity Factsheets for the 28 European Union Member States of the WHO European Region, available here.
