Piraeus Bank Romania sees losses of almost EUR 43 mln

Local lender Piraeus Bank Romania recorded losses of EUR 42.7 million in 2015, but the bank has a buffer capital of some EUR 70 million. It thus maintains a solid position, according to the lender.

In 2014, Piraeus Bank Romania saw a gross profit of EUR 2.1 million.

The bank cleaned off its balance sheet and tried to strengthen its financial position last year, according to Catalin Parvu, Piraeus Bank Romania CEO.

The lender increased its solvency ratio by 5 percentage points, at the end of 2015, to 17.3%. The bank’s non-performing loans ratio was 4.3%.
