PM: Romanian ambassadors abroad are shy, do not promote Romanian companies
Unlike foreign ambassadors to Romania, who promote companies from their home countries and speak about the Romanian state’s duties towards these companies, Romanian ambassadors abroad are shy and rarely speak about Romanian companies, said Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, quoted by Wall-Street.ro
The PM added such discussions with EU state ambassadors cannot be labeled as influence trading, and that Romanian ambassadors should promote Romanian companies across the EU and elsewhere.
Ponta has asked the Economy Minister to draft a communication strategy for ambassadors to promote Romanian companies. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry should also be involved, but the organization would have to ‘really promote’ local companies, instead of just organizing some fairs, Ponta concluded.
