Police puts up warning signs in Romanian for pickpockets in one of London’s busiest shopping areas
The Metropolitan Police in London has put up signs written in Romanian for the pickpockets who operate in Covent Garden, one of London’s busiest shopping areas, reports Daynews.com.
In an effort to deter the group of pickpockets who have been identified to be from Romania, the police have put up warning signs around the shopping center. One of the signs says “Ofiteri de politie in civil opereaza in aceasta zona,” which translates as, “plainclothes police officers operate in this area.”
Thousands of people go to Covent Garden in this time of year, to do their holiday shopping. But instead of telling shoppers to beware of pickpockets, the Police decided to dissuade the thieves themselves who are planning to target these large crowds by warning them, writes Daynews.com.
The EU lifted in January this year the restrictions on Romanian migration to the UK.
