Poll: Expat should run Bucharest Stock Exchange

12 January 2012

Around 40 percent of voters polled by newspaper Ziarul Financiar want an expat to be the new general manager of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE). The shareholders in the BSE recently chose BCR's chief economist Lucian Anghel as president and a new general manager for the BSE will also be appointed soon.

When asked whom they wanted to see as the new GM of the BSE, the majority of respondents in the poll – over 600 – chose the option 'an expat', without pointing out any name. There were nine other options in the poll published yesterday (January 11) on Ziarul Financiar's website. The next highest scores were tied between Daniel Pocorea of BRD and Dana-Mirela Ionescu of Raiffeisen Capital&Investment - almost 10 percent, followed by Florin Ilie of ING Bank and Valentin Ionescu, the former CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange- each with 9.33 percent. Other options in the poll were Alin Barbu – the current interim CEO, Bogdan Juravle of Swiss Capital, Ioana Tanase of UniCredit CA IB Securities, Adriana Tănăsoiu of the Central Depository and Liviu Giugiumica formerly of UniCredit.
