Romania to naturalize Portuguese football player for its futsal national team
A Portuguese football player may be naturalized to play in Romania’s national futsal team. 30-year old Paulo Ferreira (photo, right) has been training with the national team.
He also plays for local futsal club City-Us Targu Mures, which signed him in January 2015.
Ferreira is currently seeking to get Romanian citizenship through naturalization. His file has already been submitted to the Ministry of Sport on February 12 and, once documents become official, the Portuguese will be the first naturalized foreigner to play for the national futsal team of Romania, according to a statement of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF).
Romania failed to qualify for the 2016 Futsal World Cup in Columbia.
