The power outages in Mamaia and 2 Mai seaside resorts this week-end were caused by the over consumption of energy in the resorts, according to supplier Enel Distributie Dobrogea. Such events happened during the week as well, when energy consumption went up compared to the approved consumption – sometimes double this threshold, according to Enel.

The company recommended consumers to request for new technical approvals based on the real consumption and to reshuffle their electrical networks accordingly.

Several power distribution nodes blew out during the week-end in Mamaia and 2 Mai resorts, which were replaced by Enel, according to the company.

So far, Enel has replaced 70 percent of the electrical network in Mamaia, the company has also said.
