Premium Aerotec expects Angela Merkel to inaugurate its Ghimbav factory this year
The German Chancellor Angela Merkel (in picture) could come to Romania at the inauguration of the local Premium Aerotec factory, which will produce Airbus parts at Ghimbav, close to Brasov. The chief operational officer or Premium Aerotec, Dieter Meiners said Merkel was expected to attend the inauguration. The EUR 45 million factory will be completed in a first phase at the end of this year, when production will start, with the complete investment ready at the end of 2011.
The Airbus component factory will generate EUR 700 million in turnover in the next ten years and it will create 700 jobs.
The factory in Ghimbav will start producing airplane body parts for 90 Airbus planes a year starting September. Dieter Meiners is also the managing director of Premium Aerotec in Romania.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the EADS Group and the Romanian government back in 2009, stating that Premium Aerotec and other partners as well as suppliers of the aviation sector in Romania would invest a total sum of around EUR 90 million.
Angela Merkel was sworn in as the German Chancellor on November 22, 2005. She is the first woman and the first East German to hold this office.
