Private lending down in Romania for the fourth month in a row
Private lending continues to drop in Romania, after the stock of non-governmental loans was down for the fourth time in a row in August, according to Romania's Central Bank.
Lending was up for only two months in the beginning of the year. The lending stock was down 0.1% month-on-month in August, to some EUR 48 billion. Lending in RON was up 0.7%, while lending in foreign currencies was down 0.6%. For RON, only retail lending was up, 1.9%, while lending for corporate was down 0.2%.
For foreign currencies, both for retail and corporate a drop was registered, 0.8% for retail, and 0.7% for corporate.
