Protests again payroll law take place all over Romania today
Court clerks, employees in public administration and environmental agencies as well as employees of Romania's Air Traffic Services Administration (ROMATSA) are expected to go on strike today.
Romatsa employees will start the strike at 9am. This means that some flights to and from Romanian airports will be delayed or even canceled. The union’s negotiations with the management of the Air Traffic Services Administration – Romatsa failed yesterday. However, the unions say that their strike is not about salaries but about saving the company.
The public administration unions will protest in front of the Parliament building at 11am. Meanwhile, employees in environmental agencies will organize protests between 11am and 11.30am whereas clerks in several courts will interrupt work at the same time.
The payroll law has reached the Chamber of Deputies’ labor and social protection committee. The union members will demand the Chamber of Deputies’ labor committee to adopt and back the amendments proposed by trade union organizations. Similar protests took place last week.
