Raiffeisen posts lower profit in Romania in the first half
Austrian group Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) saw its profit after tax decrease by 16% in Romania in the first half of 2014, to EUR 47 million, according to the lender's report. In the same period in 2013, the bank recorded a profit after tax of EUR 56 million in Romania.
The net interest income also decreased slightly to EUR 134 million in the first six months of 2014, from EUR 141 million registered in the same period the previous year. Deposits from customers increased by 7.3% year-on-year in the first half of 2014, to EUR 4.27 billion.
Raiffeisen has 5,363 employees in Romania and 530 business outlets.
At a group level, RBI registered a consolidated profit of EUR 344 million in January-June, up 24.4% year-on-year.
