Redemption cathedral to require EUR 200 mln bank loan
The Romanian Patriarchate will get a EUR 200 million bank loan to build the planned Redemption cathedral. The money will be paid back using donations from parishioners, not from the state budget. The Romanian Church's properties – forests, buildings, pieces of land, will serve as collateral for the loan. Negotiations for the loan will start in July. The Redemption cathedral will be built using one of the seven architecture projects which have been selected in the race. The winning concept will also be presented in July. Works on the cathedral should start this year after August 15 and should end in 2013.
