Removing snow on Romania’s public roads costs EUR 50 mln

The total value of the contracts for removing the snow from Romania’s public roads this winter amounts to EUR 49.6 million, without VAT.
The National Highways Company has already awarded contracts for most of the national roads and highways except for some segments of the A1 Bucharest-Pitesti highway, or some national roads. In these cases, the bidder withdrew, reports local Capital.ro.
The Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges Timisoara has concluded the most expensive contract, amounting to EUR 12.4 million, followed by Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges Bucharest, with EUR 12.1 million.
These contracts only cover the roads between cities, as local authorities pay for the snow removal within the cities.
