Renault names Romanian to manage its local technology center

French car maker Renault has named Romanian Alexander Simionescu as manager of its local technology center Renault Technologie Roumanie (RTR).

Simionescu replaced Frenchman Pascal Candau, who was promoted to global vice president for product development of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, after managing the center for three years.

Alexander Simionescu, 49, has an experience of more than 15 years in management, including as GM, but also in domains such as research, structured analysis, design, development, implementation, engineering and maintenance of software and electronics driven systems. He is a graduate of the University of Technology Vienna, Electrical Engineering Faculty, Telecommunications Division. He holds a PhD with the same university, in the Technology of Semiconductors.

Simionescu started as an engineer at Siemens in Vienna, in 1996, and has been managing Siemens’ research center in Brasov, Romania, since 2001.
