Report: Three billionaires in dollars in Romania, but country among last on number of wealthy people

Romania has three billionaires in dollars, and two more people should reach this status in the next ten years, according to a a recent report by Knight Frank. Romania, Estonia and Bulgaria have the lowest number of wealthy people in the ranking that includes 23 countries.

The same study found that over 170 people with net wealth over USD 30 million live in Romania in 2013, which was four people more than the year before, and three fold more than ten years ago. As many as 108 more Romanians might join this wealth club by 2020, the report authors foresee.

Some other 47 Romanians have an individual wealth exceeding USD 100 million. This group is two times higher than last year, and is expected to further add 28 people in ten years.

Europe's biggest number of rich people – with a wealth exceeding USD 30 million – live in Germany – 11,300 people, UK – 10,100 people, and Switzerland – 4,100 people.

Worldwide, the biggest number of billionaires in dollars is to be found in Asia – 488, followed by North America – 441 people, out of a total of 1,682 billionaires across the globe. The smallest groups of billionaires in dollars are in Australasia – 21 and in Africa – 25.
