The mountain rescuers saved 80 tourists blocked in snow in Dambovita county on Sunday night (February 11 ), in the Pestera – Padina area. The tourists were stuck with their cars in the snow after the road was blocked by heavy snow and three avalanches in three different areas. The rescue took some six hours and eventually tourists were safely brought down to the road between Targoviste and Sinaia.

The company that takes care of maintenance work on the road said action had been taken in time, but that many of the drivers who go to the Padina area fail to equip their cars with snow chains.
