Retailer Metro posts EUR 909 mln sales in Romania over 12 months
Retailer Metro Cash & Carry Romania recorded sales of EUR 909 million between October 2013 and September 2014, and reduced its number of employees by about 400 people, to 4,931, according to a report published by the German group, quoted by Mediafax.
Metro Cash & Carry Romania posted a EUR 1.07 billion turnover last year, down 6% compared to 2012, when it reported EUR 1.12 billion, while the net profit in 2013 went down year-on-year by 34%, to EUR 9.8 million, according to data from the Ministry of Public Finance.
German group Metro owns 31 cash and carry stores under its own brand and 4 Real hypermarkets in Romania. It also controls the convenience stores "La Doi Pasi", open as franchise, with more than 600 units.
