Retailers in Romania disagree with state’s intervention in their business
The Romanian state should not intervene to decide the retailers’ opening hours. Moreover, it shouldn’t impose a certain amount of Romanian products among the products put up for sale by retailers, said Dan Sucu, president of the Association of Big Commercial Networks in Romania (AMRCR), reports local Mediafax.
He reacted to a bill recently approved by Romania’s Senate, which provides that 51% of the meat, fruits, and vegetables sold by retailers during a year should come from local producers.
Sucu also referred to an earlier draft proposition, which stated that big retailer networks should be closed on Sundays. The clients should be the only ones who decide the opening hours of a hypermarket, according to Sucu.
