The record cereal crops harvested last year resulted in robust exports, as shown by the official data for the period July 2021 - January 2022 reviewed by Lantulalimentar.ro.

Thus, 0.74 mln tonnes of wheat were shipped from Romania in July 2021 alone, a record for the last sixteen years.

In August 2021, the exports jumped to 1.0 mln tonnes, the first time they exceeded one million tonnes in a month. The peak was reached in September 2021: 1.27 mln tonnes.

The corn exports have also seen new records. In October 2021, the total quantity exported was nearly one mln tonnes, the highest in the last sixteen years.

The previous record was 0.52 mln tonnes in November, the exports were 0.54 mln tonnes and in December 0.46 mln tonnes - unprecedented levels for the last two months of the year.

In total, between July 2021 and January 2022, 2.56 mln tonnes of Romanian corn were sold on international markets. The largest quantity exported so far was 3.68 mln tonnes in the 2019/2020 marketing year. The record could be exceeded this year.
