Roads in South East Romania closed due to heavy snowfall, traffic disrupted in Bucharest
The heavy snowfall in Romania disrupted circulation in capital Bucharest, where visibility is low and the layer of snow increasing, and forced authorities to close down the A1 highway from Bucharest to Pitesti on Monday ( February 13 ). School classes were canceled in Bucharest and in seven counties in the regions affected by blizzards.
The DN 1 section connecting Fantana Miorita and Km 39 – between the Ilfov and Prahova counties will be closed between 16:00 and 17:00 for snow clearance.

Authorities have been struggling with closed roads, snow-bound villages, especially in Vrancea and Buzau counties, where it snowed heavily last week. Approximately 40,000 people are cut off in over 50 villages in Vrancea County, many living without food, water and medicines. A state of emergency has been issued in the county, which expects more snow in the coming days. In Buzau County, about 23,000 people in 20 localities are isolated. The country has been under Code Yellow and Code Orange for blizzards and low temperatures for the last week and a half, and more snow is expected in the coming days in SouthernRomania.
