Romanians will stay at home on November 30, when the Orthodox Church celebrates St. Andrei (Andrew), as the Parliament recently decided to rule another free day. The Christianization of the Romanian people will be celebrated on that day, as St. Andrei was the one who brought the Christian faith to what is now Romania.

This new holiday comes on top of the already existing 11 free days by law in Romania.

The decision passed the Senate and more recently the Chamber of Deputies, which had the final decision. All parliamentary groups agreed on the proposal.

In case private employers will not be able to give the November 30 free day, they can offer an alternative free day, according to MPs.

Romanians are free on January 1 and 2, have two free days on Easter, on May 1 for Labor Day, on June 3 and 4 for Rusalii (also a religious holiday), on August 15 for the celebration of St. Mary, on December 1- the National Day and on December 25 and 26. Neighboring Bulgaria has 15 bank holidays.
