Romania sets up Agency for Management of Seized Assets
After having intensified controls at various companies, and having dismantlement several big economic crime groups, as well as sent big names behind bars, while still investigating others, the Romanian state had to figure out what to do with their seized assets, and how to make some money out of them.
So the Government has created the National Agency for Management of Seized Assets, via a draft law adopted on Wednesday, May 27. It will operate within the Justice Ministry.
The Agency will trace and identify the goods resulted from crimes, will manage the seized assets and will capitalize them, as well as manage the money resulting from selling these goods. It will also develop and manage the national information system of tracking assets resulted from crimes.
