Romania aims to attract 100,000 Russian tourists by end-2017

01 February 2016

The number of Russian tourists visiting Romania should reach 100,000 this year and the next year. This is the target set by the National Authority for Tourism (ANT).

Romania could take advantage of the situation and attract more tourists, as the Russian tourists have lost interest in Turkey and Egypt following the terrorist attacks and the unstable situation there, said Anca Pavel-Nedea, president of the National Authority for Tourism, cited by local Agerpes.

Romania will launch the “Seaside for Russians” program, with prices below EUR 10 per night in 4-star hotels. The number of Russian tourists currently visiting Romania amounts to about 30,000.

ANT representatives, together with representatives of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT) and some 20 Romanian tour operators, went to Moscow between January 27 and January 29 to present their offers to Russian tour operators.
