Romania allocates EUR 6 mln for the development of other states
Romania, as a EU member state, has contributed to the development of other countries with EUR 100 million between 2007 and 2014.
The budget for this year amounts to EUR 6.23 million, said Victor Micula, state secretary in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, reports local Euractiv.ro.
The projects with the greatest impact are the large infrastructure projects, financed by Romania or other international institutions, which benefit from Romanian technical assistance and expertise, said Micula.
He mentioned the project of restoring the kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova, which totaled EUR 23 million, or a project for the modernization of a veterinary analysis laboratory in Moldova. The last project consisted both in the procurement of equipment, as well as the transfer of Romanian expertise.
This year Romania has awarded EUR 480,000 worth of development funds to the Republic of Moldova. Some EUR 30,000 have been given to Transnistria, a self-proclaimed republic, which is considered by the EU to be part of Moldova.
