Romania, among cheapest countries for bus, train rides & flights
Romania came 15th among the cheapest 51 countries in the world for transport by bus, train and plane. South Africa was the cheapest, according to the ranking by Go Euro, and Switzerland was the most expensive.
Romania’s 15th place among the cheapest countries for transport is better than Slovakia, Macedonia, Lithuania, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, all of which are more expensive in terms of transport. From all the countries in the South – Eastern European region, Poland is cheaper than Romania and so are Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine and Albania. The latter is actually the second cheapest in the world for transport.
Train transport is cheap in Romania, with an average price of USD 6.56 to travel 100 km, placing Romania 12th. Denmark is the most expensive for train trips – USD 39.8 per 100 km, while South Africa is the cheapest – USD 1.88 per 100 km.
Bus prices range between USD 28.5 per 100 km in the Netherlands, and USD 1.88 for 100 km in South Africa. Romania’s USD 5.95 places it at number 13.
But flights booked in Romania are more expensive than in 27 other countries in the world, as Romania came 28th in the ranking, with an average price of USD 36.9 for flying 100 km. The most expensive for flights is Denmark, with USD 138.9 per 100 km, and the cheapest, India, with just USD 10.3 to fly 100 km.
