Romania, among European countries that bring growth for French retailer Carrefour
French retailer Carrefour saw its revenues grow organically in Romania, France, Spain and Belgium in the first quarter of 2014, according to its most recent report. The retailer however did not mention the size of the growth.
Carrefour posted sales of EUR 19.8 billion in the first quarter of the year, up 3.7 percent on the same period in 2013, on an organic basis. In Europe, it posted an organic growth of 0.4 percent, with good performances in France and Spain, as well as in Romania. In terms of emerging markets, Carrefour saw an organic growth of 10.5 percent, with good performances in Brazil and Argentina, and sales growth in China, supported by expansion.

Carrefour runs 166 stores in Romania, out of which 25 hypermarkets, 79 Market supermarkets, 61 Express neighborhood shops and an online shop.
Last year, Carrefour posted EUR 1 billion in sales in Romania, up 2 percent on 2012.
