Romania and Hungary can reach EUR 10 bln bilateral trade

Romania and Hungary can increase trade to EUR 10 billion a year, according to Romania’s economy minister Constantin Nita.

To reach this level, the two countries must consolidate commercial ties and should also interconnect their energy networks. Hungary is the third main trade partner for Romania.

Romania is currently the second largest export market for Hungary, with about 6 percent share in the country’s total exports, according to Peter Szijjarto, state secretary for the Hungary’s Foreign Ministry. Last year, bilateral trade between the two countries was of EUR 6.7 billion. The main merchandise traded were fuel, drugs, equipment and food.
