Romania could announce a new euro-denominated bond issuance
Romania sent banks a request proposal for a new euro-denominated bond issuance, sources told Reuters.
Romania last accessed the bond markets in October 2014 when it issued ten-year bonds worth EUR 1.5 billion, with a coupon of 2.875%. On Thursday morning, March 5, the yield on the Romanian euro-denominated bonds with ten-year maturity was 1.854%, according to Tradeweb.
Rating agency Moody’s rates Romania at "Baa3", whereas rating agencies Standard & Poor's and Fitch rate it at "BBB-minus".
Analysts estimated that Romania's bonds are partially protected by the investors’ increasing confidence in the country's indebtedness, lower than in many other EU countries.
