Romania becomes International Space Station co-owner
Romania has joined European partners in two programs of the European Space Agency (ESA), namely the International Space Station (ISS) and the development of the Ariane 6 rocket, said yesterday Mihnea Costoiu, the Minister-delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development, reports local Mediafax.
The decision was taken in the Council of Ministers of the European Space Agency (ESA), held on Tuesday in Luxembourg.
Representatives of the 20 ESA Member States, including Romania, have established action plans on developing the new European rockets Ariane 6 and Vega C. Another important decision concerning Romania is its involvement, alongside other European states, in financing the International Space Station.
By entering the ESA program dedicated to the Space Station, Romania becomes co-owner of the station, along with other European countries and international partners such as the USA, Canada, Russia and Japan.
