Romania borrows EUR 175 mln to build social homes

26 May 2016

Romania’s National Housing Agency (ANL) will build 7,000 houses for rent for young people in the next five years.

The project will cost EUR 250 million and 75% of this amount will be financed through a loan agreed with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). The Romanian state will contribute with EUR 75 million.

The loan is based on a memorandum between Romania and the Council of Europe Development Bank approved in November last year and has a maturity of 20 years.

The project’s beneficiaries are young people aged up to 35. They will have the possibility to later acquire the homes at a reasonable price.
