Romania borrows EUR 48 mln to fight nutrient pollution
Romania will borrow EUR 48 million from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to finance a project on integrated control of nutrient pollution.
The aim is to preserve the water quality by preventing groundwater pollution.
The Government approved a draft law on Monday, which will be sent to the Parliament. The money will be used for investments in local communities, but also for developing the institutional capacity. The aim is to optimize the management of manure and other compostable materials and to plant windbreaks to protect against discharges of nutrients.
The funds will also be used to buy equipment to better store the manure and produce compost.
