The first Romanian - made unmanned military aircraft, also known as a combat drone, is ready to start missions in support of ground forces. The drone weighs just 5 kg, allows operation from over 10 km, and only costs EUR 30,000. It is thus much cheaper than similar spy devices used by armies across the world. Several engineers with the Ministry of Defence have developed the aircraft’s prototype starting 2005.

Any military can coordinate the drone, which can fly at a height of over 1,500 meters. It rarely surpasses 500 meters, however, in real cases, reports local Digi24. The prototype was tested in Afghanistan.

The device can identify, store and send data filmed with both normal and infrared cameras. If the enemy finds it, the aircraft can land on any ground, with the help of a special parachute.
